Discover
why different personalities can be a challenge to work with—and
why you need them on the team! Discover how to relate better to others. Two personality
type assessments, Myers Briggs and DISC, measure different
things about team members' personalities. Both are quick, fun and good. Ideally, you
need them both. This knowledge is important for team members to gain awareness and tips
about themselves and others. It will serve them well throughout their lives on all their
teams, both at work and at home.
DISC is best for learning how to flex your style to communicate better with others. Online Assessment takes about 15 minutes. Workshop takes 1.5 hrs.
DISC is completely different from the Myers Briggs, because DISC is about behaviors in different situations and may change when you take it many times throughout your life. Based on the work of William Marston, the DISC measures your behavioral style in whatever situation you have in mind when you take the assessment. Your home style could be different than your work style. Your work style in this job may be different than your work style in a previous job.
What we love about DISC is that it is about behaviors, and they are observable. It is easy to pick out the DISC styles of your team members based on their behaviors, and then to flex your own style to be more like theirs when you interact with them. It's also easy to put together teams so that they have a balance of styles on them so that they have a greater chance for success.
The DISC measures two items:
- Whether you perceive your environment to be favorable (you'll be people oriented), or unfavorable (you'll be task oriented).
- Whether you feel more powerful than your environment (you'll be a direct communicator) or less powerful than your environment (you'll be an indirect communicator).
Your style is usually one dominant and 1 or 2 back-up styles:
D is Dominant, the Director, Direct Communicator and Task Oriented.
I is Influencer, the Social, fun-loving "people person", Direct Communicator and People Oriented.
S is Steady, the steady-paced team player, Indirect Communicator and People Oriented.
C is Conscientious, the detail oriented, process and quality expert, Indirect Communicator and Task Oriented.
You'll find this personality assessment training session very helpful to managers and
teams. After
the course, it will be easy to pick out the types of your team members, friends and
family members. The workshop not only teaches the four styles, but also teaches
how to flex your style and communications to interface better with the other three
styles.
